Yes, that's right, Texas drivers over the age of 79 must actually go in person to the DMV and renew their license. With renewing it, they must take and PASS the vision test.
This is all because of Katie's Law. Katie was hit and killed by an elderly driver who ran a red light and who never should have had a license in the first place.
Within this new law, that took effect on Sept 1, once the driver hits 85 years old, they must renew their license every 2 years... personally, I think it's ridiculous to allow the driver to go from age 79 to 85 without retesting in between, but at least they can't just renew online without any in person exam.
