Have you heard of this new technology called Google Cloud Printing? Have you heard of this new technology called Kodak Email Print? It's supposed to make our lives a lot easier when out and about.
Google Cloud Printing connects your printer to the web. You can use these printers from anywhere, and allow others access to use them too. Kodak Email Print is a FREE service that will assign an email address to your printer so you can just email something to the printer and viola, it prints.
How can these things make our lives easier? Here's a good example...
A couple of years ago, I was meeting with some buyers at my office to go over an offer to submit on a house for sale. I pre-printed everything out as we discussed all terms ahead of time. Once we went over everything, and I was going to submit it, I called the listing agent to confirm his email address. He tells me that since we last spoke a couple of hours ago, another offer came in. WHAT?? Multiple offers??
After telling my buyers the conversation, they decided to change their offer to a higher offering price and more earnest money to make their offer stronger to compete with the other one that came in. I had my laptop with me so I could make changes, but the network was down at my office, so I couldn't connect to the office printers to print out any changes. I had to locate this old fashioned stuff called "White Out" and then hand-wrote in the changes.
It made the offer look a little unprofessional, though many offers still come in hand-written today. It also made the changes stand out like my buyer really wanted the house, and showed a little more motivation to spend more. That doesn't help, but I didn't have another option at the time. My buyers did get the house, so YEAH for them.
If I had this Kodak and Cloud Printing thing, I could have made the changes on my computer, connected via wifi on my phone, emailed the changes to the printer, and viola, a new printed version of the changes, and the listing agent wouldn't have known if we made changes to our offer or if it was the original offer we were going to submit prior to hearing there was another offer on the table.
Technology and change isn't always easy to embrace, but this is something that is ingenious!
