I had a great birthday, full of activity! First, we dropped my daughter off at my in-laws where she spent the night for the first time. She still hasn't come home...
Then, we went to Manuels Restaurant in Downtown. It was a nice atmosphere where I had some chicken enchiladas and Mike had some beef fajitas. I even splurged and got a drink, however, they put a lot of green "stuff" in the drink that kept coming up my straw, so I was fishing most of it out. It didn't really have any taste, so it wasn't mint like I thought it was.
Then we walked some streets since neither of us had been down there in years. I had not been to 6th street since I was 18 so I definitely didn't recognize anything, but Mike recognized a few places.
There were also lots of homeless people and beggers. I was surprised at the number of beggers down there. We just politely walked passed.
After that, we made our way up to Central Market, yes, the grocery store. I laughed when Mike suggested this because I had no idea how to picture what he was talking about. Central Market has live music, and apparently it's very prestigious to be able to play there. The band, Seth Walker, was recommended by a friend of his.
This Central Market is very different than the ones in Dallas. There is a full restaurant, bottles of wine, smoothies, anything you want... there is an outside area, inside area, upper level deck... There is even a cooking school inside, and I took a brochure in case I wanted to do that in the future.
There was even a play area, that was hard to get a good picture of because of all the trees. This makes it a very family friendly place to go. I could imagine when Alyssa got a little older, we could just tell her to go play, we could enjoy a nice dinner, and listen to live music all at the same time.
After all that, we got home, and I got a Wii. I've been wanting a Wii for years, but I didn't want to buy it for myself. I wanted someone else to buy it for me, I'm silly like that. Anyway, we stayed up a little bit while I kicked his butt in Golf and Boxing, though he won Bowling.
All in all, it was a very nice Birthday. Thank you to all for the well wishes!

Happy Birthday Donna. Sounds like a wonderful evening. I've been wanting a wii forever too. Enjoy.
Looks like a good time was had by all! Happy Birthday!
PS. I don't like 'busy' drinks either . . . ;)
If made correctly it's very tasty.
Donna, what a great chronicle of what sounded like a fun day for you on your birthday. I'm so happy for you. That Wii bowling game sounds like a blast!
Happy birthday Donna. Wii is a good birthday gift. Hope you are enjoying it. I wanted to get it last year, but couldn't get one as it is out in the stores. Hope will get this year.
Happy Bday. Hope you got the chance to see the whole foods store downtown.....the flagship of whole foods. That puts Central Market in its place. Now go sell a home.........
Hi Donna
Happy Birthday, and from your post your had a great time.
Have an outstanding a productive year.
Lou Ludwig
Donna,
Sounds like the celebration was very nice. Lots of things to do. The drink looks like a Mjoito. Had several of those on Friday myself.
Gynell, It just takes persistant bugging about it!
Candice, I rather eat my calories than drink them, so I don't usually drink when we go out.
Greg, What do you think it is? It's not what you think it is...
Gary, It is, except it always says I twist my wrist, but I dont...
Suma, My husband claims to have tried last year too, but he said they're all over the place now.
Tim, Sorry, but I'm not a Whole Foods type of gal... I'm not a Central Market person either, but I wasn't shopping, I was listening to music.
Lou, Thank you!
Richard, Nope, not a mojito. It was "supposed to be" a Vodka Lemonade... Greg Goose Limon with lemon and lime... and green stuff...
What a Freudian slip there... it's was supposed to be a GREY goose, not a GREG goose!!
Donna - I remember a lot of festivals being held in Austin when I used to live in Texas (Fort Hood). I went to Austin almost every weekend and there was always something going on! The food was great the people nice and never a shortage of fun.
Great place to enjoy your birthday- Happy Birthday! You are not lazy like me. I have an X-box which as you know requires no physical effort. Enjoy your Wii!
Hi Donna... Glad you had a Happy Birthday. Did you find a 7-11 for your free slurpee?
Happy Belated Birthday Donna. Sounds like you had a great time. Im pretty sure I would have been shocked with the Central Market idea also. In our area, we have two locations for live bands on the weekend. We debated going up last night and having a coffee but it was just too hot. We went to the pool instead. Happy Birthday again! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
I also wish you a Happy Belated Birthday Donna. How many days will it take your daughter to recover? :)
Donna, that wasn't a Mojito? It looks like it. Happy Birthday, many more.
Donna, you better hope that you get totally addicted to the Wi! It's an electronic NAG!
