Austin TX Real Estate - Hill Country Austin Lakeway Homes for Sale: Will Austin TX Weather Break a Record this Summer?

Will Austin TX Weather Break a Record this Summer?

Today is day 48 of OVER 100 degree weather!  The heat is rather ridiculous if you ask me... and anyone else around here!

Here are some numbers to know:

69 days over 100 in 1925
66 days over 100 in 1923
50 days over 100 in 2008

After the weekend, we could very easily move into the third spot.  August is traditionally the hottest month of the year so we have plenty of time to hit another 19 days over 100 to climb to the top of the list.

Do I want to break the record?  Yes, but NO.  I'm sick of the heat. It's exhausting!  However, we've come this far, and the competitive part of me wants us to take it all the way!

Why has it been so hot?  Because we haven't had any rain to cool off the grounds to help soak up some of the heat!  We are currently in the driest 24 month period since 1954-1956!!

Because it's so hot, we're seeing more and more wildlife approaching people's houses. I've found scorpians and toads. There was a snake across the street, but it slithered away by the time I got my camera.  Nature's animals need water and they're being daring in getting it!

Rain Rain Come Again!!!  We need you!!!

Wow do you think they had global warming early in Dallas and it started in the 20's before there were cars and emissions?

But Donna, you're a "rainmaker" according to your badge! Just tap your heels together and wiggle your nose!

Donna;

I agree with you, the heat is exhausting.   I've seen lots of toads this summer when the sun starts to go down.  Whew!!!   I hear we may get some rain soon.  g

the heat has been unbearable this year.  i should have my head examined for buying a car with black leather interior.

it'll be fall before we know it though.  can't wait until the "attic fan" weather returns.

Donna,

Since we have good friends in Austin I check out the temperature in the morning paper.  You guys are getting hammered.

Kim, I have a little violin for ya!!  It's been WAY hotter down here!

Tammy, Possibly...

Greg, I wish it were that easy!

Carol, I saw the 10% chance in the forecast which means "fat chance"!

Steve, But she doesn't want to come out and play because she knows she'll lose!

John, Fall?  Ohhh, you mean Winter!

Richard, Hammered and screwed!

Donna-I like Gregs idea! Anyways here in Mass. we have had a above average rainfall, and today reached a high of 75. So it has been a real unusual summer here in Mass.
