My poor little girl was crying and crying, and there was nothing I could do to stop her. After 20 minutes of screaming, I decided to take her to the Hill Country Urgent Care in Bee Cave TX.
We didn't wait one minute. They immediately took her back and took two X-Rays for the "just in case", but they already knew it was Nurse Maids, where the elbow dislocates.
The doctor came in, bent her arm up, and in less than 2 seconds, Alyssa stopped screaming. About a minute later, she was back to cracking jokes! She thinks it's funny that her fingers are "wrapped".
Donna, what an ordeal for you and your little girl to go through today! I'm happy to see her tears are drying up and she's finding her smile again! All the best!
Donna - It breaks my heart when my kids are in pain or sick and there is nothing I can do. Alyssa is a beautiful little girl, sling and all!
Oh yes, I know what this is for sure. My daughter had the very same thing happen to her years ago, twice. Just as you described happened to Alyssa, my daughter's arm was better in minutes when then put it back in place.

Michelle, Thanks! The part that broke my heart was that she couldn't tell me what hurt. She's still too young to express that when she's so upset.

You brought back a lot of memories, Donna. When my daughter (who is about to turn 21) was about 3 or 4 her elbow would dislocate all the time. Once she was holding my hand in Sears and I was walking one way and she pulled to go another way because she wanted to see some toys! Out popped the elbow. Once it popped when my "mother's helper" was watching her. (I don't know who was crying more--my daugher or my helper). Once, the doctor even said to me, "Are you abusing your daughter again!" (That really had me upset!) It lasted for about a year, but I think it popped out about 7-8 times during tht time!

OUCH, I am hurting just looking at the pics. Poor thing, I'm glad she is all better.
I am glad that Alyssa is feeling better. What a sweet picture of her being comforted by her puppy. My daughter has a similar one, she's had it for several years, perhaps as young as Alyssa. It is a dog, too, but to this day she calls it Beary, Dog/Bear, and it is always there for her too.
Hi Donna... Oh My! Poor Alyssa! Any idea how she hurt herself? I am always amazed at how resilient children are!
Poor Alyssa! Breaks my heart, I can't imagine what it's going to feel like when one of mine breaks something and that's a WHEN not an IF! LOL

Lourdes, I knew something was wrong when even her puppy couldn't stop her from crying, so that's when we went to the doctor's.
Steve, We were walking in the house from the garage when she decided she wanted to stay in the garage. Basically, I went one way and she went another, but her arm came with me. Apparently, it's very common until the age of 2 1/2.

Donna: Oh my gosh ! Alyssa is such a little princess. I am glad she is ok. It just seems like yesterday when we were following the story of her "grand arrival." What a sweet child. And... what a great age !
Wow...I opened up this blog and BOOM, it was like a trip down memory road. My Elissa was throwing a tantrum the other day (beginning of September) and threw herself out of bed...right on her arm. We took her to the doctor as well and sure enough, a hairline fracture of her Humerus. So the pictures of your Alyssa look a lot like the pictures now of my Elissa! Splinted and Slinged and not slowing her down a bit.
Hope she is well and that this is a one time problem for her!

Poor baby. Sounds like she recovers very quickly, which is awesome. Hopefully you don't have too many of those ordeals. When Quinten broke his arm last year I was crushed. I knew it was going to happen one day, but was hoping he would just be lucky and never break a bone.
She doesn't look like she is too happy, and it does break my heart when anyone is in pain, especially little ones. Love the curly hair!
John, I've never broken anything, but I've bruised many bones to where I wish they would have broken so I could get some kind of cast. I think a bruised bone hurts worse!
Cindy, I have pics from the doctor's where she wasn't happy, so believe me, she was happy in the above pictures. And her hair is topic of many conversations, which is why I like to put her "realtor" t-shirts on!
