I am a TREC (Texas Real Estate Commission) approved instructor and teach classes every so often on different real estate topics. About a month ago, I taught one of my classes, and oops, this lady didn't have her $20. Being the nice person I am, I allowed her to pay me later...
Later hasn't arrived yet...
At the class, she gave me her business card, but I don't think she does business from it. She has 3 phone numbers on her card, though two are scratched out. She also has a Hotmail email address, not very professional.
After class, she asked me to email her immediately so she would remember, which I did. I don't check my mail at my office very often, so it was a couple of weeks later that I noticed I didn't receive her check. I emailed her again, since she recommended email in the first place... no response, and no check...
Yesterday, I called her to remind her that I have not received my check yet. Her response...
"Oh, I haven't checked that email account in weeks..."
Why do you have a Business card with an email address on it that you don't regularly check? What if buyers and sellers were trying to get a hold of her? What is she thinking??
Why can't there be a way to weed out agents who are running a circus instead of a business and just don't give a gosh-darn-it!!

I don't know how to respond other than I think almost every office of every profession have their own group of circus performers.
Donna, I agree with you! It absolutely unprofessional not only not to respond to you in a timely manner but not to keep her word with a payment. She probably thinks that she is in-titled to free classes when everybody else is paying.
How embarrassing for her. I guess she does not plan to be in the business for very long.
Sounds to me like she should just be running a circus business since all she's doing is clowing around in Real Estate anyway
I would guess that this woman only does business when one of her relatives needs a Realtor!
Donna
There are many professionals in real estate and there are few that are not.
Good luck and success.

Wow, Donna. How embarrassing for her. Sounds like someone needs a little more education on how to conduct themselves in a business environment.
That could be the reason she didn't have the $20.00 to pay you.
Ty
She sounds like an unprofessional idiot.
I'm trying to get a transaction closed on Monday with a circus performer agent who didn't get the option fee to me within 2 days (or even within 2 business days), didn't get me the executed repair amendment before the option period expired, and now has seemingly disappeared off the face of the earth. Bet she shows up looking for her commission check, though.
It does amaze me how some agents never check their email or voicemails.
Donna - Some times I wonder how people make it through the day.
Donna ~ Your good deed will come back in another way. Some people are takers and other are givers. She wan't be around long..
Donna - I think people like that are essential in our business. They are a shining example of what to NOT do. Their poor business skills keep stories alive about how someone had this agent that never communicated. Anyway, it makes those of us serious business people all that much more desirable.
Donna ---- Amen, Donna. My opinion is that you will never see that check -- you just did a favor without even realizing it.

Jay, But the good jugglers know how to go their job!
Irina, Yes, I've had those in my classes too.
Ellie, I hope not.
Craig, Cute...
Gordon, You make a good point.
Lou, More than a few...
Heather, Exactly!
Ty, True, very true...
Greg, LOL!
Lorrie, No option... good luck!
Rita, I know!
Michelle, With much luck!
Monique, And I'll swoop in for her business.
Nevin, But also keeps the bad taste in the consumers' mouths.
Liz, But I also have the power to revolk her MCE hours for the non-payment!!
