Austin TX Real Estate - Hill Country Austin Lakeway Homes for Sale: SXSW® Coming to Austin TX March 12 - 21, 2010

SXSW® Coming to Austin TX March 12 - 21, 2010

SXSW® - South By SouthWest is coming back to Austin TX March 12-21, 2010. What is SXSW®? It's "the premier destination for discovery". Oh, what does that mean? It's basically a ten day event for conferences and festivals with live music and independent files and new technologies and trade shows.

The schedule for SXSW® is pretty intense with something happening at every second of each day starting at 9am on Friday, March 12.

How do you get in?  You must have some kind of badge, paid in advance. They started selling tickets last year, and if you bought a Platinum Badge by September 25, 2009, you only paid $920. This same badge is $1225 at the door.  The lowest badge is the Interactive Badge and prior to September 25, you could have paid only $395, but now it's $550.  Make note of this for next year if you want discounted rates.  You can find more details of the prices at the SXSW® registration page.

Come early, stay late, avoid the traffic.

SXSW always brings a huge crowd to downtown Austin.  Good time to advertise downtown Austin listings to the out of town crowd and those who are hanging out downtown too.  They get a chance to see the downtown lifestyle and think about grabbing a piece of it.  Here's to the buyers who fall in love with the city's vibrant core.

Lou, People sure think so.

Liz, Nope, I have other things to spend $1225 on!!

Jeff, Yes, it would be a great time for current listings.

Donna, this is your first time in town for SXSW but the cool thing is that there are a lot of great free shows too!

Are you going?

I have always wanted to go, it sounds like such a cool event. So much more than real estate, I remember following it on Twitter last year.

$1225 at the door and missing 10 days of work to get the full value for money! Wow. It must be the "bees knees"

That's a pretty serious event and some pretty serious registration fees for this economy. Hope it turns out well.

Donna,

Sounds like an exciting event.  I must say I was surprised by what they are charging to get in.  Are you going?

Russell, We were in town for it last year, but did a quick entrance and exit to avoid traffic.

Missy, The tweets are out of control, I had to turn it off. No, I'm not going.  Lots of buyers to show.

Ellie, I don't understand the cost and/or why people would spend that much for something like this...

Russel, No joke!

Richard, My jaw was on the ground when I saw the prices...

Robert, POssibly...

John, My mom is coming in town on Sunday, and I hope she can avoid any traffic mess.

Donna:

You can attend by buying a wristband which is for locals.  The cost for this year started at $129.00 although I think now you can still get one for $165.00.  We attended last year with wristbands and it was well worth the money.  The food and booze was free lots of places.
