Between December 2007 and December 2009, when the rest of the country was having lots of job losses, Austin TX jobs increased 0.98%.  The estimate of job growth prediction over the next three years is said to be just over 8% with Dallas TX just behind at a little over 7%.  This is great news!!

Overall, Texas has four markets in the top 10 list, Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston. San Antonio actually has the highest job growth prediction over three years at an 8.32% increase.  It's no wonder why people are moving to Texas faster than any other state in the country!

All signs pointing to a great spring/summer selling season.  Homeowners, listen up, now is a great time to list!

Hi Donna, who are the major employers in Austin?  In the 80's Houston took a nosedive because our major employment base was too narrowly concentrated on petrochemicals and when that sunk at the time --- it took a lot of people down with it.  Since then Houston has a broader employment base, across more than one sector .. oil, petrochemicals, ship channel, medical center, NASA, federal court system, etc.... which provides a steady ebb and flow of people transferring in and out of Houston (good for the housing market). What are the major sectors in Austin?

Mike, A fabulous time!

Judith, Technology, government, and the university are the major sectors... Dell, IBM, National Instruments, Univ of Texas, etc... It's not as diverse as I'm used to from Dallas, but it's not bad.
