Hey Listing Agents, Continue to NOT Return Calls to Consumers!!

Hey Listing Agents, continue to not return calls to consumers!!  As McDonald's says, "I'm lovin' it!!" 

Working Austin TX real estate agentFirst, it makes me feel great when I return a call and a consumer is so excited that I called them back so promptly. Second, by you not returning their calls, they're calling me instead and in return, you're helping to build my business!! I bend over backwards to give my new, existing, and potential clients great customer service!!

I got off the phone a little bit ago with a very nice gentleman who was ecstatic that I returned his call in under 30 minutes when he had been trying to get in touch with a listing agent on a property for 4 days.  Yes, 4 days!

We're not talking about a price range where an agent doesn't return a call because they don't want to hand hold a buyer at $100k. We're talking about a price range upwards of $400k!  A ten minute conversation has turned a stranger into a new client buyer.

Again, Listing Agents, I beg you, continue to not return calls so the consumers will continue to call me!!  I've been so busy lately, and it's great!  Mama needs a new crib!!

As for you buyers and sellers out there, make me your first call before you waste time waiting for a returned call from someone else...

Hi Donna,  You are so preaching to the choir here !  I'm tired of hearing agents complain about how tough this market is and then take a call from a client like you described in your well written post.

LOL...love this post!  And don't you love agents who don't return calls?  I hope they keep up the "good" work - it's great for business...OUR business!

Wow it's amazing Realtors don't return calls like that. Basically, they're throwing away a $12,000 check!

Donna - I gained a half million dollar buyer a few years ago because nobody was returning her phone calls.  She was driving through neighborhoods calling the number on the sign and nobody was calling her back, except me.  I answered my phone, she was already pre-approved, showed her two homes and closed on one in 30 days.

Donna, it doesn't hurt my feelings if agents don't return customer calls. Better chance they may call me.

Hi Donna - Isn't it amazing that some agents simply treat their clients and prospects so shabbily?  They will spend time and money promoting themselves, and when someone calls, they can't be bothered talking to them.  They get a listing and wait for other agents to sell it.  They can't be bothered taking calls on it.  Very strange.

I held an open house for another agent in my office one time and a couple came in and kept moaning and groaning.  I asked them what was wrong, and they said we love this house and wanted to buy it several months ago when it was listed with another office, but the listing agent never returned our calls.  They called him every day for 2 months and never got one return call. 

They said they had just closed escrow on another home that they didn't like anywhere near as much as this one.  Turns out they didn't realize they could have called any Realtor to show them the property and write an offer.  They thought they had to call only the listing agent.

Hi Donna, I don't get why calls are not returned. As a listing agent, I pick up the phone almost everytime it rings. If not, then all calls are returned most times within 15 minutes. We are in a service business and if someone doesn't have time to return a call, then get an assistant or better yet, give us the business!

Donna - I can't tell you how many times I've answered my phone to hear a surprised voice say that I was the first realtor to answer the phone.

Hi Donna,

I called an agent the other day that had so many requirements on her voice mail (she didn't answer of course!) like this:

 calls after 6 will be returned next business day, on Sundays calls will be returned on Monday....yada yada!

People won't follow that ! They will hang up and call the next agent! I have picked up many a client who says your the first agent to answer my call.  So I agreee with you on this one!!!
