Since the day she was born, many people have told me that Alyssa's face should be in a magazine. It's always made me smile to hear people say how cute she is. Every mother loves to hear things like that.
One of my relocation buyers who just closed on a house a couple of months ago has his daughters in modeling and acting. He saw Alyssa and thought she was cute. I told him how I previously tried to see about doing something about it, but nothing worked. For the past couple of weeks, he has been giving me tips as to where to start and what to do... however, most everything has been a dead-end because companies don't like to represent kids under the age of 5...
On Monday, he sent me an email asking if I would be interested. The email was from the company he's with asking if they know any female, crying toddlers ages 2-4 for a short film. He forwarded a couple of pictures of Alyssa to the company, and they called Monday night for an audition Tuesday afternoon. WOW! Alyssa's first audition!! From the picture below, she doesn't look read to cry as we waited for our name to be called.
So, she was supposed to CRY! We talked about it and she said she could do it... The audition place was a little creepy. A place called Space 12 in East Austin. We got to the audition and when it came time to cry, I took away her bubbles and her magic wand as I knew she would be upset. She looked right at the casting director and said, "When my mommy takes my things away, I'm supposed to cry." Did she cry??
She cried as soon as we got to the parking lot! We had to go back in because we forgot her drink. I mentioned how she cried as soon as we walked out. The director said she could come back in front of the camera for another shot, so we did. This time, she looked sad, and whimpered twice, and then big smile. I guess she's too happy to cry on demand...
Wednesday evening, my phone was ringing and we were in the backyard playing. I ran inside, but missed the call. I saw her name on the caller ID, and immediately called it...
ALYSSA GOT THE JOB!!
She went in for her first audition ever and came out with her first part ever!
The filming will be next Wednesday. Keep your fingers crossed that she cries in front of the camera. Depending on the time of day, I have several plans as to make her cry. Taking her snack away, combing her hair, and different things she does on a daily basis to work up those crocodile tears... We're very excited!!

Congratulations!!! What a cutie! I am sure it was odd, hoping that you child WOULD cry :) Usually, we do whatever it takes for them to stop
How exciting and she is cute! Much success to her!
How very cool. She is adorable and it is totally understandable why they want her to be in the movie. Keep us updated.
I'm happy for you....but coming from California and Hollywood, I have to say "be careful." I see families here torn apart by running to auditions and kids with no childhood. It becomes addictive. She's adorable and I'm sure this will be fun for her....and I know you already know this (the "mom" in me is saying this) but keep this is perspective and have fun with it. .... I hope you take this with the spirit it was intended....Karen
A star in the making! She's so adorable. Good luck with the filming!
Congrats to you daughter getting the part!
Space 12 is a unique community center for the public in East Austin. It's backed by a local Christian church. I helped volunteer to rebuild space 12 about 2 years ago. It use to be a bar believe it or not. The place really turned around after the renovation. There's a very tight knit community in East Austin of young business professionals that are involved in Space 12 and VOX (the church). You can check out their web site at http://www.voxveniae.com/
Way to go, Alyssa! What's the title of the film and where will be able to see it?
Donna - Very cool, Alyssa is adorable, I'm sure she'll do awesome.
As long as Alyssa and Donna are happy, I'm happy with you too!
That is very cool! Great way to start a college fund. I hope she can cry when she needs to!!!
Faina, It was hard because you don't want your kid stereotyped as a crier. She's usually happy!
Ellen, Thanks!
Ellie, I will!
Karen, It's definitely in a trial stage. If it becomes too much, it won't continue. My husband is already against it, but as you've seen other pictures of her, you know Alyssa loves the camera!
Barb, Thanks!
Chris, It definitely did look like it used to be a bar with the big bar across the back room. There were several gentlemen there all with their computers working on a group project of something, and they kept laughing at Alyssa as she kept talking loudly.
Lorrie, I'll let you and everyone know as soon as I know she isn't cut out.
Michelle, Thanks!
Loreena, We are happy and having excited fun!
Holly, I hope so too!!
Donna, you aren't trying to tell us you are a proud mom are you?
You ought to be. She looks great. Find her a part where she needs to use that smile of hers.
Donna, loved this. It takes work to cry on demand. Alyssa is a budding Hollywood star.
Congrats to Alyssa and to her mom! She got her first part, and you reached 750K points (but that's probably old hat for you by now!).
OMG Allysa going to be in a movie. She reminds me of Shirley Temple (shows our age) with at beautiful smile.

Alyssa is a star in the making.
Good luck and success.

HI Donna - your daughter is adorable and glad she got the part. Best wishes with this endeavor.
Hi Donna... I said it on Facebook and I will say it again. I am predicting and Oscar! Way to go Alyssa!
Donna... it is my sincere hope that CPS... Child Protective Services... is not there when you try all those various evil things you have planned to get Alyssa to cry. Oh... the pain of it all. But if it happens, it happens. You have many friends who will come and bail you out, so not to worry. <smile>
Seriously... Hooray for Alyssa. Another movie career is launched !
Hello Donna - Congratulations to your daughter and her first job. Sounds like you've signed up for a wild ride!
