Well, today made for a huge scare for me. Last week, I had to take the glucose test. The glucose test, as the name states, tests the amount of sugar in your body. If it's too high, they send you off for diabetes tests...
To get the call this morning to let me know my levels were 142, where 140 is the cut-off, was pretty scary. He doesn't seem too worried since it's right above the limit, but he still has to let me know I have to have the additional tests. The additional tests requires me to fast for 12 hours and then they run blood tests for 3 hours... yes, 3 hours!! I guess they take blood at different intervals to see how the body reacts, I'm not quite sure, but I have no idea how I'm supposed to fast for 12 hours and then have 3 hours of tests that will probably actually take 5 hours.
That's potentially 17 hours without eating!!! Baby's gotta eat, and I get hungry!!!
Anyone else have this scare and it turn out to be just a fluke?

Prayers for ya Dear.
I think I heard that this is not uncommon.
Thank you, Tom!
Also, I forgot to mention that I do "walk" a lot if you consider pacing to be walking. Usually, when I'm on the phone and the call has taken more than a couple of minutes, I'm up walking around the pool table or the living room, or up and down the stairs in my house, as my office is upstairs... so, even though I'm not walking the dog, I typically walk more than a mile a day just around the house. I used to wear a pedometer around the house to see how much I walk, and it's usually around 7000 steps, though I know it's supposed to be 10,000 steps a day. I'll put one on starting tomorrow and check to make sure I'm still pacing a lot!
Donna...I've heard that many many women fail the one hour test only to pass the 3 hour just fine. My tip would be to schedule the 3 hour for the first thing in the morning. That way you're only having to hold out over night. however, it is very hard for me to get up and going without any food or drink in my stomach. I nearly passed out at the appt. Good luck!! You'll be fine!
