I know I had a birthday a couple of months ago which always means you're getting older, but did AARP really need to send me an email for a membership today? Aren't they a couple of decades too early?

Are they hurting for membership that much that they're signing people up early so they're locked in at today's rate instead of paying their rates in 15+ years?
I think I feel a little insulted right now... do I look anywhere near 50?

Donna, you have to wonder how they got your email in the first place!
Donna
AARP must be starting young.
Good luck and success.

Donna...
When I turned fifty I joined, but my wife, who is 6 years younger than me, was also eligible to join. She said "NO WAY, I'm NOT 50!"
II'm pretty sure they'll take your money anyway! lol
Look at it this way. They think you are so TOTALLY AWESOME that they are willing to waive this whole age requirement thing and let you in.
P.S. My husband is old enough and he keeps ripping up their mail feeling quite insulted. Just for fun, I picked up an AARP hat for him at our business 2 business trade show. I couldn't resist! :)
When I turned 50, my uncle sent me an AARP membership as a gift. I can't say that I appreciated it much, but my wife was quite unhappy when she found out the membership included her (she is a few years younger). I eventually got over it. : )
AARP. The mass marketer. They can't keep up with their membership dying off.....and they keep billing them after death. So they figure if you join now, they have another 30 or so years with you.
Donna, I thought I was the only one. I have been receiving AARP information in the mail for about year now and I will be 28 years old...in about a month! Needless to say, my hubby who is a 1 and a half younger thinks this is hilarious!
HaHaHa..... At least your not constantly getting "enhancement products." As if!
Hello Donna - They'll take anybody these days. Times are tough you know!
Donna... you look great for 50! And to have a baby at such an old age too... good luck to you. :-)
Donna that is just too funny! Someone obviously didn't know how to read information correctly!! Just feel honoured, they must think of you as a valuable member and want to ensure they get you signed up!
Donna:
This is definitely a funny post. No, you don't look even close to 50. I guessed you to be about 32-33. If you join now, do you get all the discounts? Think of all the money you could be saving by getting the AARP rates?
Years ago, AARP sent me a sign up form, way before my proper birthday.
They have good travel discounts. I signed up. Used them more when I was "younger" than I do now, when I am actually qualified.
They started targeting me too. I have always wondered if there were really any bennies to it.
