Austin TX Real Estate - Hill Country Austin Lakeway Homes for Sale: Sunday Afternoon on the Pedernales River - Spicewood Austin TX

Sunday Afternoon on the Pedernales River - Spicewood Austin TX

Summer is basically over, but I have not been on the boat for several months... it was time to winterize it, which meant Mike needed to take the boat out and do whatever you do to winterize it.  He suggested a ride since my mom was in town.  What a great idea! Alyssa loves being on the boat, and it had been a year since she had been on.

We didn't completely think about the logistics of getting the boat in and out of the water since I'm the one who usually backs the trailer down... there was no boat dock. There was no place to get into or out of the boat, except at the bottom of the ramp.

But then, with my 34 week pregnant belly, how the heck was I supposed to jump on board? I certainly couldn't jump and go head first!

Mike pulled up as close as he could, and I managed to somehow pull myself up.  That, and then getting back out to retrieve the trailer were the biggest obstacles of the day.

The Pedernales River joins to Lake Travis which is all part of the Lower Colorado River system that makes up the Highland Lakes in Central Texas.

Here are some pictures from the Pedernales River off Pace Bend in Spicewood TX.

Not a feat I would want to accomplish at 34 weeks pregnant but you seemed to have handled it well.

Teral, It was fun... except for the choppy water!

Holly, It was a gorgeous day with perfect weather!

Rita, Yes, she very much loves the camera.

Loreena,  It WAS flying, and now it's going S-L-O-W!

Donna - Looks like a great day.  I spent the day at the water too, just a bit farther west then you, at Monterey Ca.

Donna

It looks like your daughter enjoyed the family day on the boat.

Good luck and success.

Hi Donna... looks like a nice way to officially end the summer to me!

Looks like a beautiful day to be on the water.

Its funny that you said 'winterize' and 'whatever you do to winterize it'. When you said it needed to be winterized, I was wondering that you do... and thought you would answer the question... but not so much. :-)

I'm so jealous living in Indy where we are landlocked except for a few manmade lakes.

Cindy, Everything here is basically man-made too. They took the river and created several dams to create bodies of water. Even in Dallas, there isn't a single lake that is natural.

John, To winterize, you have to drain all the fluids so they don't freeze. I was also sent to the store to buy the Fuel Stabilizer. That's about all I know.

Steve, Not sure the summer is ended yet as it's still freakin' hot!

Lou, She definitely did!

Jim, I bet it was much cooler there too!
