Surviving Your Serengeti - The Enterprising Crocodile

I read the first couple of chapters of a new book called Surviving Your Serengeti: 7 Skills to Master Business and LIfe by Stefan Swanepoel.  I was asked to take a quiz when I was done to determine "What Animal Am I", which I was hesitant about doing since most of these types of quizzes get me wrong as they can't really take into account all aspects of things. This quiz was 21 questions.

surviving the serengeti crocodileApparently, I'm a Crocodile.  Not just a plain crocodile, but The Enterprising Crocodile...  From the quiz, "Enterprising means showing initiative... and a strong desire for success and achievement..."  Yes, that's the competetive part of me coming out, I suppose! Are any of my friends reading this who can confirm that??

The quiz also says I would have the following characteristics:
"The ability to think outside the box... the determination to succeed... self confidence... the tendency to spend a lot of time working along..."

I'm always telling people how I think outside the box from your "regular" real estate agent. I'm always thinking of the next and best way to market a property that sets me apart from the other 9000+ agents in my market.  And something that many people just don't understand is the working alone part. Many people feel they need to go into the office everyday to get things done.  I, on the other hand, never get any work done when I go into the office as people just want to talk talk talk.  I get so much more done and accomplished when I'm working alone in my home office.

I think, for once, this quiz nailed me!

As for the book, it gets you to think about yourself and how you run your business. I, like Sean, work a lot. When I went to another country for my honeymoon, I managed to go 4 days without checking my emails.  I did have to buy an Internet card the day before I left because I had a closing scheduled and I needed to make sure everything was ok, which it wasn't so that got me in a fluster... but everything got worked out when I got home, and the world didn't end.  Can you believe?  The world didn't end because I wasn't there for a couple of days!!

It's hard for me to take time off and relax, but I understand it needs to be done every so often.  I might take a day off when my baby starts daycare next month. I might sleep all day!!

It sounds like an outstanding and I'm going to have to invest in it.

Good luck and success.

We had Stefan at the Keller Williams Family Reunion and I took the quiz there.  I am an elephant (I thought I would be a croc) and my brother is a crocidile... I think that is the reason why we make a good team in this business.  Can't have two croc's trying to duke it out.
