According to an article published today in The Dallas Morning News, Blogging is becoming more popular with Real Estate Agents.
What I find interesting is that the article states that there are only about 500-1000 agents blogging right now "according to industry estimates."
"According to industry estimates"?? Where did they get this estimate from? ActiveRain alone has over 5000 agent members, not including the members from other branches of the real estate industry. Do all of those agents blog? No, but I'm sure at least a quarter of the people who sign up actually post a blog here and there. Matt or Caleb could probably give a better percentage of who signs up verse who's blogging, but it's definitely got to be a healthy number.
And then you need to take into consideration that AR is fairly new and not all real estate bloggers know about the site yet, as they may be living in a dark hole, or they feel blogging on their own is more efficient than blogging within a networking group.
Do you think the industry estimates are accurate? If not, what do you think is reality?

Sounds like someone needs to double-check their research efforts. It's obvious that they didn't run accros the AR site.
Well, I wouldn't say there are 50,000 but I would say the number has to be somewhere around 10,000. I say this because the average agent is still afraid of advanced technology and many of the ones not afraid of it are afraid of themselves in the means of having to express themselves on a regular basis within a blog.
If someone knows of better estimated numbers, I would love to send a response back to the writer and have him rewrite something more realistic.
Last time I checked there were 2,500 members who had made at least 1 blog post and that was at least a month ago.
It kinda makes you wonder what other "industry estimates" are unverified.

Donna - to me, these estimates all depend on what criteria you're looking for. Many agents (regardless of the blogging platform they use) only publish 1-5 blog posts and then give up.
Mary - that's odd. I just clicked on the link you provided in your comment of just four days ago and checked the first 5 pages of results but didn't see our illustious Broker Bryant's listing.
