Austin TX - Population Growth Ranked 5th Across the U.S. Sorry, Austinites, but Austin TX continues to grow bigger and bigger. Among the metro areas across the country with at least 500,000 people, Austin TX saw an increase of 37.3% from the years 2000 to 2010. That's an increase from 1,249,763 to 1,716,289.
What I find interesting is that Las Vegas and most of the state of Florida have had huge real estate issues, but those are two of the top places people were flocking to. It's no surprise that people are trying to get away from the Detroit area as they have many foreclosure properties for sale for $1, yes, that's ONE DOLLAR, and people aren't buying them. It's truly sad up there.
Many people here in Austin TX do not like to see their precious city getting too big, but as we appear on more and more national lists about how great of a place it is here, more people come. Texas is supposed to be the friendly state, so come on down to Austin TX and I'll hook ya up with a house!! You need to snag one before they're all fixinta (Texan for "going to") fly off the market.
