Austin TX Real Estate - Hill Country Austin Lakeway Homes for Sale: 15th Annual White Rock Lake Artists Studio Tour- Oct 13-14

15th Annual White Rock Lake Artists Studio Tour- Oct 13-14

The White Rock Lake Artists Studio Tour is this weekend, October 13-14.  From reading the name "White Rock Lake", you would think this tour would be a bunch of booths set up by the different artists around White Rock Lake.

However, this is not the case.  It should be named the White Rock AREA Artists Studio Tour.  This is not an ordinary art festival.  You basically go, in your car, from house to house, rather it's studio to studio.  Sounds like an interesting concept.  I'm probably not going to go because I wouldn't feel comfortable getting in and out of the car so many times, and also insulting an artist if I walked in and walked out, but my mother in law is coming in town this weekend to go to it, which is how I heard about it.

Here's a link to the information.

Here's a link to the map of everyone's house.

Have fun, and stay out of the rain that they claim is coming this weekend!

That is so interesting.  What a great idea!  I won't be able to go this weekend.  You'll have to let us know what your mother in law thinks.

I think I just agreed to go with her.  She emailed saying she was bringing a pack n play for the baby and asked if I would please go with her if it wasn't too hot... It'll be a new and different experience, so I'll probably go, but I can't imagine staying too long since it seems like it'll be more driving than viewing.

How was the art tour?

Yes, we did go.  We only made it to about 10 houses.  It was too much get in the car and drive to the next one, look for a couple of minutes and get in the car again and find the next house... It was interesting to see some of the actual studios, but for a show that they had all year to prepare for, hardly anyone had a variety of their work to showcase.  In a way, it was a waste of time, and I probably won't go again.  It was not fun.  If they all gathered at White Rock Lake and set up booths, it would probably be much better!
