A big campaign started a couple of days ago that bans saggy pants to be worn around Dallas. Previously, there have been banned at some of the schools, but this is actually a city-wide ban.
There are two dozen billboard signs around the city reminding people they need to pull their pants up. This campaign is being faught by many people saying it is a violation of their expression. There have even been some violent attacks on prominant people throughout the city, which is scary. Here's the link to one such story.
Personally, I can't believe it's taken this long to get rid of the saggy pants. Saggy pants were popular about 10 years ago, and I remember thinking that it wasn't going to be long before the fad disappeared and people were dressing normally again... well, for the most part, people are dressing normally again, except a small few who still think it's a cool look to show their boxers. They walk all bow-legged just to keep their jeans above their knees. It looks ridiculous.
Here is the link for the song that was written to help the campaign.

Brian, can you add feathered hair to the mullet list?
Keith, But to make them look like clowns, they would have to also wear suspenders, and they refuse to wear any type of belt to hold up their pants. It's almost like they bought shorts, but really wanted pants, so they have to wear them low so they go down to their ankles like pants.
Linda, I agree the look is stupid. I've seen videos where they try to run. It's hilarious... LOL!
Someone mentioned this ban to me the other day. This issue is really important to me because it seems to be a cultural issue. I know that "saggin" is not confined to one race but the "style" is still cultural.
I was at a burger joint with carhops yesterday. Both of the young men on duty had sagging pants. This was really upsetting to me because it shows there is a lack of professionalism and pride in self among the young people in our community. I forgot to call the manager to tell him/her my thoughts. This post reminds me.
While I think spending money on a campaign or law is overboard I do believe that we should reach out to our young people (all of them) to instill self-respect, dignity, and pride. By the way, there is a no-sagging dress code at my kids' high school.
If this is our future being "flashed" before our eyes we're in a "butt-load" of trouble.
Saggy pants are just gross. I couldn't agree more with the ruling to ban saggy pants. As a Dallas area resident, I've had about enough of the boxer butts peaking out. It is a slap in the face to decency.
