So frustrating, so frustrating!!! At today's appointment, it looks like she is just "baked" enough.
I am retaining so much water, it's starting to concern my doctor, but still not signs up pre-eclampsia. My hands are so red and I can barely type at times because my fingers are so swollen, I can barely bend them, especially in the mornings. My knees are getting much worse and it's hurting to walk. Blood is pooling behind my right knee which is causing more pain.
However, blood pressure is still fine, 118/60 so he sees no reason to actually induce as he still thinks it will lead to a C-Section. It's very nice of him to be so concerned about not performing a C-Section, whereas other doctors probably wouldn't care.
He hooked me up to a monitor for about 10 minutes to check activity and such. Apparently, I am having contractions, and I'm like, "that's" a contraction? I've been having those pains for a couple of weeks now, but I guess they're not strong enough to make a difference, but at least it makes me feel better to know that I actually am having contractions.
Diagnosis: SEX
I asked him if I could just acquire some sperm and insert. He laughed. He said he had never heard of anyone suggesting that. He said most people go to a sperm bank to become pregnant, not to become un-pregnant.
So frustrating... maybe she doesn't want to come until she has a name... looks like I've got a stubborn one on my hands!!

Good luck. Hopefully the labor will be quick and get her a name soon. How about Emily.
J.
Frances, I try to rest my feet, but when they say walking helps, I walk A LOT! And I'm retaining so much water, I'm afraid to drink more, though I'm constantly thirsty... no happy median here, but I know people forget about the trouble or there would be many more "only child" families out there.
Jeff, we both love the name Emily, however a good friend of ours has a 9 month old and they stole Emily from us... with such a closeness of age, we're not going to repeat the name. We might repeat a name from another friend, but she's 4, and that's a better age difference between the names.
Donna, Doesn't seem like long before you will be holding your baby girl. So YES now is the time for the name......how about a middle name of Kay...... Actually if you could have part of your mother's name in your little girl's name, it would be wonderful. I wish I would have named my girls after my mother, but I didn't. Good luck with the baby.
As a Dad, I loved the C-section. The wife not so much, but she is not typing I am. When our 2nd child was born she had the option of birth or C-Section, I pushed her towards C-section.
Our Doctor Recommended Sex as well. Gotta tell you though (as a man), I really was not into it and had to decline. Perhaps it was my over inflated ego and having a fear of poking the Babys eye out? Don't know, just could not do it.
Good luck. Its a fun time. I actually have to head to the Hospital today, My sister just had her 4th baby!
Kay, Thank you for the suggestion, however, I've veto'd Kay, Fae, Mae, Leigh, and Lynne as middle names because they are too southern sounding and too popular. So many of my friends have those as middle names, and in our hearts, neither one of us is from the south (Me- Washington St; Him- Nebraska).
Keith and Robin, Thank you.
Chad, My doctor pointed out that the sex wasn't needed to be enjoyable... which is why I suggested getting some sperm and just injecting it!! When I came home and told Mike what he said, his response was to continue staring at the computer and just said "I'm busy." I told him I was penciling him in for tonight... we'll see! LOL!
Hi Donna,
I'm sure you've heard 101 words of wisdom from friends and family... but I have an unusual one for you. Both my babies were LATE... and despite walking my fat legs off, nothing was helping. For some reason I got it into my head that I needed to pull all of the weeds in our giant flower bed one afternoon. Because every position was too uncomfortable to try and pull the weeds, I finally got a red kids wagon out of the garage, and sat in it, bending over the flower bed that way. Talk about CONTRACTIONS! Every time I sat down to reach over and pull weeds, I was in serious pain- something about the position? I forced myself to endure the contractions so I would dilate- every time I stood up, they would subside. It might be an alternative...!
Sandi, it looks like I'll be working in my yard tomorrow. Poor hubby had to pull out most of the stuff from summer as I couldn't bend over, but he didn't do the accent stuff around our main tree. I think I'll go out tomorrow and tear it all up and see what happens!!
Contractions have been about 45 minutes apart most of the day. Very consistant, but means nothing if they don't get closer together!
Good luck Donna :)
If you're anything like me, a certain position or two will kick ya into high gear-- you just might not like it so much when you're there! Seriously-- find something low to sit on.
Sandi, Well, I worked in the yard for about an hour this morning... so hard to bend over with my knee issues. I have been feeling different pains and pressures, but contractions haven't gotten closer... yet! I may need to work in my neighbor's yard to create more to do! LOL
Debra, Yes, this is my first. I'm really hoping that since I've been having contractions the last couple of weeks, and last night they were 45 minutes apart all evening, that we won't be late... but yes, I've heard from several people that the first usually is late.
My prayers are with you to have a quck delivery of a happy healthy baby. I've never had to do the work of it but I sure enjoyed the benefits of my two girls.
My wife's doctor didn't prescribe "sex" just orgasmic contractions for her. It worked the first time. Didn't the second time.
It's a great and wonderful thing you are embarked upon. I wish you well.
Erby, Thank you.
Karen, THis baby needs to learn the world doesn't revolve around her!!! LOL! jk
I moved my 38 week appt to today instead of tomorrow, so I'll be posting another update later this afternoon!
Hang in there Donna!
I actually had both pre-eclampsia and high blood pressure on top of a two week late baby daughter. She was supposed to be born the day after Christmas and her birthday is January 11th! Before you know it, your little girl will be here and all will be good with the world! Best wishes,
Lisa

Lisa, they allowed her to be late with pre-eclampsia?? WOW!
I wish my wife's doctor would prescribe some sex.
I would be happy to fill her prescription!!!
Hang in there, Donna.
It's almost over.
