Austin TX Real Estate - Hill Country Austin Lakeway Homes for Sale: My Mobile Device Droid - How You've Changed How I Do Business

My Mobile Device Droid - How You've Changed How I Do Business

It seems I'm always on the go these days. Instead of saying I "home office", I should say that I "Car Office". Some times my appointments are spaced to where I don't have time to run home in between, so I stop in a parking lot and check emails and messages, and return calls.

android phoneFor a very long time, I was against these fancy phones. I always thought, "if I am out and about, people can wait." I also thought it was ridiculous to check email on the phone because I didn't have the time to press those iddy biddy buttons, muchless my frustrating touch screen that I currently have. However, those times are gone. Now, I wouldn't know what I would do if I always had to wait until I was back at my desk before checking emails or texts or anything. I forgot my phone at home one morning when I took my kids to school and I just about freaked out thinking I was in trouble if my car broke down... it's not like there are payphones to call from anymore.

Granted, I can do without the Facebook updates from people, but when I'm out showing properties for 3-4 hours and I'm waiting to hear about negotiations on an offer, I don't want to wait the additional 30-45 minutes to get back to my desk.

Many of my different systems even text me new buyer and seller leads as they come in so I can see those instantly.

I want to be perfectly clear, I do NOT answer my phone or emails while I'm with clients. If I'm showing for 3-4 hours with clients, they have my full attention. I do not use my mobile office to be rude and unattentive with clients. I also don't appreciate it when another agent answers their phone when I call, to get a response from them of, "I'm with clients right now, so I'll call you later." Did you really need to answer in the first place?

Austin TX is on fire right now, not literally like last year with all the wildfires, and I need to be able to communicate with people when I'm not at my desk. I've got a Driod phone, and I don't remember doing business without it... and taking pictures of all the weird things I see at properties. My Droid keeps my business moving forward.

Donna, I don't know what I ever did without my I-Phone!  The other day, I used it to check a traffic jam outside of Richmond for family on their way up here.  These are amazing machines.

Love the smartphone. The more I use it, the more indispensible it becomes...

Donna, it really is amazing how much impact a smart phone can have. When you're on-the-go, it's so convenient. It's also the wave of the future: The Pew Internet & American Life Project released a survey this week that says 17% of cell phone owners do most of their online browsing on their phone, rather than a computer or other device. I'm guessing that many of your clients are also using real estate search apps, which are a great way to find out about properties for sale and to schedule open houses.

I'm looking at the new Samsung myself.

I have to say, I know first hand that your very busy, was in your town twice hoping to catch dice.

Well it was spring time, I'll try a different time of year.

Hope you enjoyed what I left at the office!

Pat, Yes, indeed!

Tim, Very true!

Lou, Easier, but I do hate those "force close" messages I get all the time.

Lorrie, Exactly!

Jill, I do NOT like browsing on my phone. Too small of a screen for that, and will usually go to the desktop.

Pete, I don't work at the office, and your messages were cryptic and that usually means telemarketer so I didn't return your calls. My appologies.

Donna - I resisted the iPhone for a long time until my daughters insisted I change my Blackberry for one - now I don't know how I made it without it!
