Austin TX Real Estate - Hill Country Austin Lakeway Homes for Sale: Texas Gets New License Plates... again... Security Threads Inserted

Texas Gets New License Plates... again... Security Threads Inserted

The Texas License Plates are changing again.  Just when I started figuring out the pattern they were trying to use, they decided the colorful plates are too distracting. This is even after they took the original chosen in 2009 and said the blue was too dark and then made changes to make it lighter...

The new plate? Plain black and white.  Yep, just like we had back in the day.  One thing I'll say is that I like being able to read the state name and the numbers and letters are going to be much larger. I'm a license plate watcher as I drive. I like to see the other states' plates. However, too many are in really skinny scripts or contrasting colors and you can't actually read what the state says unless you're a couple of feet away staring at it. South Dakota and Illinois are a couple of examples of that.

Anyway, below is the picture of the new Texas plate. What's so special about it? It has these vertical security threads that help police identify them from a further distance.  To me that just sounds like new equipment was bought for every law agency in the state and that's more tax dollars.  Yippie... *sarcasm*

What do you think? Boring? Or good to go back to the basic look?

Donna - I really don't like the plates we have now and I ordered one with a big star.

Pam, Why didn't you order the REALTOR plate? This is mine.

I LOVE that we're going back to the black and white, clean-looking plates!  When we started trying to imitate other states with their fancy plates, we lost something.  All we need is the star, the numbers, and Texas.  And it sure makes it easier to read the plates!

The large numbers letters can help to identify the car and I remember the black and white ones from way back when too.

Donna:  Wow... that was about SIXTY THREE Spam Comments in a row... and from the gaps in the numbered comments, it looks like these have been reported and deleted several times.  I just wonder what the point is.  Well... I have clicked on the "Report a Concern" button... and Active Rain seems to respond pretty quickly to that.  Hooray for AR!

Anyhoo... back to your post.  In some ways, I like the black and white plates.  But... making them easier to read is both good news and bad news.  Sometimes... anonymity can be a good thing.

Thanks so much for all of the information you continue to bring us in your posts... and thanks for a look at the new Realtor plate.  Have a great week.  I hope all are well.
