Austin TX Real Estate - Hill Country Austin Lakeway Homes for Sale: Hamilton Pool Nature Preserve - Dripping Springs TX - Austin Hiking

Hamilton Pool Nature Preserve - Dripping Springs TX - Austin Hiking

The weather has been so nice for Fall in Austin Texas that we decided to take a hike around Hamilton Pool this morning. It was so nice and cool, and then it warmed up, but still nice.  Hamilton Pool is a natural waterfall and is a hot-spot of Austin. During the Spring and Summer, you can sometimes find yourself in a line for hours to wait your turn to get into the Hamilton Pool parking lot.  There is a beach front with the pool and then behind the pool is a cave-like structure that's fun to walk around.  We spotted water moccasins, frogs, and dragonflies, to name a few...

Here is our morning venture...

I thought I recognized the rock formations.... I love that place. We called it Hamilton's Hole. Not Pool... in any case I have fond memories of climbing down the sides...that was before they put in the stairs...The water looks a little low...is that really the case?

Sussie, Hamilton Pool is constant level, so it's not low.

We really enjoy hiking, and this looks like one worth the time and effort. Your kids are so adorable. :) Enjoy the rest of your Sunday. D

What a great way to spend a family day. This is definitely a wonderful time of the year here in The Texas Hill Country.

Thanks for sharing.

Debb, It's a great hike if you don't mind all the stone steps. Next time, we'll go the opposite direction as the river is an additional .6 miles... just need the kids a little older to tolerate that distance.

C&C, It was great and nap time was peaceful! Wore him out!

We were there a few weeks ago.  Everyone else got to go visit Hamilton Pool but us bridesmaids had to get our hair and make-up done :(  Wish I could have joined in on the fun!
