I got my real estate license back in October 2000. That's 12 years ago. I looked very different back then. I looked like I was 18 years old. I cut my hair short, because I was told only young people had long hair, and I got all dressed up. I got pictures taken for my business card. At the time, I thought it was the best picture I had ever taken! I thought I looked so mature and much older... but looking back, I still looked very young. (I don't have a picture on my computer, so this is a picture of a picture from an old marketing piece I found.)
I used two different business cards. One card had my picture that I gave to people after meeting with them so they could always put the face to my name. The second card didn't have my picture. This was a card that was given to people to hand out or placed inside any marketing that was mailed out. If they didn't already know me, they didn't need to know how young I was.
In 2001, I decided to not put my picture on my card anymore. I thought it was hindering my business. I was asked by many people why there wasn't a picture, and I just said that I didn't think it was necessary.
In 2006, I was older and wiser and decided to get new pictures taken. It didn't look half bad. I really liked it. I looked approachable and friendly.
In fact, I liked that picture so much, I tried to duplicate it in 2009 when I thought it was time for a new picture. I mean, I was now a Mom, so I had to look more mature, right? I still use this picture today in much of my marketing.
I did get another picture taken in 2010 just for a new look. I didn't like that picture as much so I don't use it as much.
I don't think I've changed much since then. However, one of my lead sources required me to take a new, updated picture. It couldn't be a headshot. It had to be either a full or half body shot. Really? I still have 5 pregnancy pounds to lose. I didn't really want my body in a picture, but I understand that some comsumers might feel mislead when they see a face and then see their agent in person and it looks like a totally different person.
Got it, so I got this picture taken. I don't have it on my business card. Actually, I don't have business cards at all right now as I'm thinking they're old school. If someone wants to refer me, they don't give a business card, they send an email to the person with my contact information. If I've met the buyers or sellers in person, I've cooresponded at least one time with an email, and they have my contact information from my signature in the email.
Anyway, these are the pictures of Donna over the years. Do I still look 18? I better not as it's more than 12 years later!!
