I was speechless when I received a call last Thursday afternoon asking me if I was available to come to the Bee Cave Elementary School's assembly the next morning, bright and early at 8am. The principal personally called me to tell me I was chosen as the Volunteer of the Month.
Me? Volunteer of the Month? I was thinking how that was strange since I didn't get to visit my daughter's classroom very much this past month because my schedule was so busy. Ms. Braxdale continued to tell me that the Carnival group threw my name out... ok, that makes sense.
I volunteered for the school Carnival's silent auction. With Alyssa in Kindergarten and our first year at the school, I had no idea what I was getting into as the silent auction is the biggest fundraiser for the school each year. I spent so many hours obtaining sponsors, and picking items up, and following up a million times with some sponsors who were more difficult to get in touch with. It was fun, but also a lot of hard work.
I'm honored to be named the Volunteer of the Month for Bee Cave Elementary School in Lake Travis ISD. Alyssa was brought to the front to present me with the certificate and pin. The biggest perk? I get my own parking spot with my name on it, so I never have to hunt for a spot the rest of the year. Our school year goes into June this year, so I'll get to keep the spot and not have to park in the grass for Kinder Graduation that week!! So awesome!!
