Austin TX Real Estate - Hill Country Austin Lakeway Homes for Sale: Personalize Plates Getting you in Trouble?

Personalize Plates Getting you in Trouble?

I have personalized plates on my 4Runner.  They are the Texas Association of Realtors plates, and they're also customized as BUYIN.  If I wasn't a Realtor, I probably wouldn't recognize the plates as the writing is fairly small and hard to read as you're driving around and keeping a great enough distance between cars.

I was driving a couple of days ago along 75 Central Expressway going north, and in the right lane because I was heading to the East Bound exit for the George Bush Turnpike... and right before the exit, who pulls in front of me?  Yes, it was a fellow Realtor!!  Can you believe that?  I only know because he had the same special plates that I have, though he opted not to customize them.

All I know is that he drives a Black, Chevy Suburban, and the license plate starts with B73.  There are only 5 letters and numbers on the plate as they need room for the TAR message, so I'm only missing 2 of the letters.

So, if you know anyone in the Dallas area who has the special TAR plates, and they drive a black chevy suburban, telll them to give me a call and explain why they felt the need to drive so rudely.

Donna, I'm always afraid that the person I cut off driving down the street could be the owner of a house I write an offer on the next day!  Just one more excuse for being courteous behind the wheel!

Patricia, I always think the same thing.  Also, if I'm meeting buyers at my office or a Starbucks or something, I'm very aware that I might be driving right next to them on the way, so I'm on my best behavior.

Donna, that's exactly why i took my "Consult a Realtor" plates OFF!  :)

I'll be on the lookout!

Leonard, I understand... but the plates, along with Alyssa in the care are two things that help me drive better... well, I was never bad, so I should use the word "slower".

I have never liked the idea of personalized plates. This world is smaller than we think and personalized plates or not we need to be on our best behavior because the most important person of all is watching and that is GOD.

Donna, I have a personalized license plate though not a REALTOR one, even though those are available here in Virginia.  In fact, did you know that Virginia has more personalized plates than any other state?  My understanding was that Virginia was the first to start the program -- and any group with 25 or more people can submit a petition to have new personalized plates made up to recognize their group.

Donna - The plates certainly can make you more memorable -- one way or another! I have beautiful logos on my design van and believe me, it certainly makes you think twice about heading out the door without brushing your hair, and also driving SUPER nice!

Donna that is so funny but not!  My husband and I had something very similar happen to us last week.  BUT a realtor with a BIG magnetic sign with her name and photo all over it ran a red light, almost hit us and then yelled at us like we had done something wrong.  LOL  Sounds bad for business to me.

Donna.. You go!  Call this other agent on the carpet for driving like an idiot.  You sort of lose any anonymity when you customize your plates or vehicle, so better think twice or drive nice! :)

Donna, I don't have a plate saying I'm a Realtor, JUST in case I am not feeling like being a saint at all times, lol....I'm usually a very thoughtful driver, BUT...

I know what you mean Donna.  I drive a very small two seater and you should see the way people take advantage of you.  I always have to drive with care because the next SUV could be my last.  haha.

Gee Donna, didn't you know that Realtor was more important than you?  Or, at least in his eyes.  My wife says that someday I will be a victim of road rage as I will flash lights or honk at people like that.

As I travel around looking for business though, I will keep a look out for this SUV.  And, then stay very clear of him.  With my car, I would be a grease spot.  :-)

Make something happen today!

Tony, THat's funny!

Shaun, I updated about Alyssa a couple of weeks ago as she turned 6 months, though she'll be 7 months on Monday.  I think she has pink eye, or bad allergies so we're going to the doctor this morning. Thanks for asking about her! http://activerain.com/blogsview/516714/Alyssa-Turned-6-Months
