Austin TX Real Estate - Hill Country Austin Lakeway Homes for Sale: What Are Your Kids Doing These Days?

What Are Your Kids Doing These Days?

As most of you know, I have a baby.  She's 7 ½ months old and will be 8 months on the 16th.  I blog about her quite often as she amazes me so much.  Each day, it's something different.  There are many people within Active Rain that have young children.  I thought it would be nice for everyone to brag about their kids right here, and let's see what everyone is doing.

Alyssa is crawling like crazy!  It's funny that she even crawls because she refuses to sit down much of the time.  She wants to be standing at all times. She doesn't care what she's standing against, but she must be on her feet.  She's also figured out how to pull herself up to a standing position, and even walk along the object she's holding onto.

Alyssa is about to break through tooth number 5.  She has the two bottom middle, and she has the two on either side of the upper middle, which looks almost vampire-like.  The 5th one about to break through will be the upper middle on her left.  I can see the pearly white at the tips of her gum.  I thought it would be there this morning, but it'll come through in her sleep tonight, I'm sure.

Alyssa LOVES food!  I think her favorites are the ones she can grab and eat on her own which are watermelon and corn on the cob.  Yes, with the kernels still on it!  She'll eat anything put in front of her. I think her most favorite things to eat are magazines and those little postcards that are tucked inside.  I guess she feels she doesn't get enough fiber.

And her favorite word is MAMA!  She says it all the time.  The speech people say DADA is usually the first word, but no DADA in sight!  She's got some other words like LALA and NANA and AHHH and UMMM, but MAMA wins hands down!

What is your little one doing these days?

Congratualtions!  enjoy your baby as much as possible, specially at this stage.  Once they turn 2, like mine, they don't stop moving and become a handful.  You kid is beautiful!  Now that I see you blogging about your kid, I will do the same, you gave me a great idea.

Time flies, Donna. My babies are 9 and 6. My daughter will be 10 in October and my son will be 7 on the 30th of this month. Enjoy this time. Alyssa is at a great age - lots of fun and growth.

Hi Donna,

Your little girl has a cute nose.

Preston is 18 months and his favorite food is Corn on the cob. Now more than ever he's repeating everything we say. Car  - KA. His vocabulary has tripled and he's so happy. He loves to say "HI."

The boy loves his outdoor time, plants, stars and animals. He needs to get off the boob idea. Jeez. I never thought breast feeding would create such a long term interest. He reaches for every woman he sees!

He bumps his head frequently. He runds into everything and still can't be taken to a restaurant! He bangs the fork on the table!

Great blog..thanks for sharing..

Jacquie, That sounds like tons of fun!! LOL

Andy, Thanks for the warning.  Today is going to be mostly spent starting to babyproof the house since she's crawling and reaching for everything she can touch.  She loves the paper, remotes, and phones... I don't want to spend another penny on toys if she can be so easily humored with a magazine!

Linda, what are they up to at 9 and 6?  Soccer?  Softball? Bugs?  Yes, time flies as I can't believe this time last year, I didn't even know she was a "she" yet.

Greg, I weaned Alyssa last week, cold turkey, and she hasn't looked back since!  Out of sight, out of mind... except when it comes to something she really wants like the remotes or phones.  She understands that they're hiding behind the pillow or under the blanket.  Preston sure sounds like a lot of fun!

Donna enjoy your daughter as long as you can.  soon they are 19 and off to college.  If yu are involved with them as they grow up they will stay involved with you later on as well.  It goes by so fast

Jeff, I'm trying to enjoy every second.  I just hate dropping her off at daycare in the mornings!  We play hookie as much as possible, but I also like her being around the other babies as often as possible because that's where she picks up a lot of her new tricks.

Cute pictures above.  I remember when my kids were that young.  They are SOO much fun.  My favorite part was when the learned something new at that age.  It was like I learned it all over again too... so exciting.  My kids are 10 and 11.  During the day, the go to a day camp to keep them active otherwise they will just stay home and watch tv, play video games, or play on the web.

My son typically is getting ready for football season, but he broke his arm in March, so we are taking off this season.  This should allow him time to heal and hey it frees up some time over the summer for us to play golf.  During football season, he is working out M/W/F and games on Saturday.  Usually kept him quite busy.

My daughter does horse lessons each week.  She loves those horses.  If it were up to her, I'd had a farm in my yard with horses, pigs, and several dogs.  Luckily our HOA does not allow that, not that I am at all tempted to give in.

Have a great day!

John, Sounds like your kids lead a very active life!  Alyssa will probably learn golf at a very early age too.  We're looking out for who's going to support us when we're older!!!  just kidding!

Very cute pics. But i'm sad (no really happy) to say my "baby" is 24 and in the last year of med school. Pediatrics will be her specialty.

Such a cutie!!  I miss my kids being this young, but then again, it's nice having adult time now!

Sandra, I can imagine.  Each time there's a "first", that first will never be a first again.  Adult time was spent at the lake this morning while Alyssa was at daycare!

You have a beautiful daugther.  Mine are 7 and 4.  I'm going to be using my 7 year olds computer artwork in my blog: it's amazing stuff.  And my 4 year old has been riding a "2-wheeler" since he was 3 1/2!  Feels good to brag about them.  It's true, that once they start to walk, it's a whole new ballgame.  Also, in my household for some reason it was the terrible "3's" not the terrible "2's."

Matt, I hear more and more that it's terrible 3s and not the 2s... I can't wait!!  That's great that yours was riding a 2-wheeler so early!  I bet it made family riding events much more fun. And computer artwork sounds just as amazing.  What program is used?  I have a 6 1/2 year old niece who might enjoy that.
