Austin TX Real Estate - Hill Country Austin Lakeway Homes for Sale: Are We Moving to Austin?? UnBelievable Update

Are We Moving to Austin?? UnBelievable Update

I'm not even going to beat around the bush with this one, as the usual me would tease you a little bit before giving an answer.  The short answer is, YES, we are moving to Austin.  We put a contract on a new home this past Sunday, and the builder approved it on Monday.

We decided on Falconhead West.  We will be on the North side of the community with views of, whatever it is that's out there, and backing to a bunch of trees.  Personally, I'm not a "view" type of person, so I have no idea what it is we'll be looking at, maybe Lake Travis?  I need to start my research so I can be ready to hit the pavement when we get there... probably February or March time-frame.

The house is going to be nice, I hope. They have never built this floorplan before as they stole it from Houston, and we made that LONG drive to Houston last week to see the floorplan in person instead of trying to make sure the paper version would work.

It's about 3800 sqft with 5 bedrooms, study, and GameRoom with a 4 CAR GARAGE. Yes, I said 4, that's not a typo!!  There is also a covered porch and a HUGE covered back patio that is almost the length of the house.

We are exclosing the Porte-Cochere to create the 4 car garage, as that's just wasted driveway space.  We also chose the Media room option, but we're keeping it as a bedroom.  It adds about 6 feet to the room, and that will be a nice space for my workout room.  We chose the 5th Bedroom on the far right, and the GameRoom will go in the middle above the Family Room so it won't be "open" to downstairs.

I'm excited to get started on picking out the selections, but that'll be another trip to Austin to schedule that appointment... now, Mike just needs to figure out which job he's taking...

Good luck to you and your husband. That question was on my mind about if you were still moving to Austin.

That is alot of home. Who is going to keep it clean?

I'd love to move back to Texas! I have five "yankees" in my family though.

Angelia and Andrew, Not sure how you each had the exact same comment, that's weird. I can't say I'm 100% happy about the move, but we'll have to see what the new year brings.  And since I have those magical Mommy Powers, that would be me keeping the house clean, at least upstairs as that will be my domain...

Heath, Dump the yankees and come to some warmer weather!

Congratulations! I guess ~ you don't seem too excited about it ~ but I'm sure you will take the real estate market in Austin by storm as well. After all that work to get rid of the monkey wallpaper border...

That is a lot of home. Who is going to keep it clean? <<just kidding>>

Kelly, I'm sure I'll get more excited as the time gets closer.  Right now, there's so much to do here in Dallas to get ready.  I spent a good portion of today turning off my PPC accounts so I stop paying for new leads, and I can focus on my current leads to get those closed... and yes, after the monkeys, unbelievable, huh?!  NO wallpaper in the new house whatsoever!

I love Porte-Cocheres.

What a surprise.  Congrats!  This looks like a great house!!  I'm jealous.  Keep me in mind for any of your Dallas clients once you move to Austin.  :-)

Hi there!

Are you setled on a new place to do business? email me and let me know! Check out my profile first! I hope this is not considered some sort of improper solicitation!

Thanks,  Russell

Greg, I love them too, but if given the option to have a 4 car garage instead, I rather jump on that option... better for resale!

Linda, Thanks!

Leonard, We still need to have that lunch.  Both babies doing well?

Russell, Not settled yet, but will probably stick with Re/Max... we'll see.

Congratulations Donna! How exciting a new house... Since this has been going on for a little while I am sure that you are probably glad that it is final now. Have fun decorating or should I say think of decorating since you still have a few months....

Teresa, I've never owned a "new" house before so that part is very exciting.  I got to pick the house elevation.  Mike wanted this awful looking one, but he thought it was cool.  It wasn't going to happen even if he begged!  Plenty of time to figure out how to decorate. We've been in our current house 3 years next month, and we're only about 50% decorated, which is sad.

Sad to know you are moving. Good for your opportunity though. But what would you do with a 4-car garage with just the 2 of you?

Hi Donna... WOW!  I guess this means we need to start planning the Bon Voyage party!!!  At least Alyssa will have room in the garage for her tricycle!  Congratulations!

Posted by Steve Shatsky about 10 years ago

That would be a good choice since you are already in the company but i would love to have coffee with you sometime (as if you have any "spare" time these days!

Thanks again,

Russell

Donna:  The home sounds really great.  And... see... aren't you glad you drove to Houston to see it in person ?  I am so glad you did that.  I wish you all the best.  Take care...

Donna, congratulations on the final decision to move. I know this situation was like a yo-yo for you all for awhile. Austin is nice and quite a bit different topographically from Dallas. You'll do fine. Your new house plans look great.

Loreena, The 4 car garage will leave us wishing we had a 5 car garage!!  My husband does woodworking so part of our current 3-car is a workshop, and the 4 car will help spread that out and give him more room, plus I'll get my separate freezer!

Steve, Yes, there better be a HUGE party.  I'll pretend I'm surprised!!

Russell, You ever drive up to Dallas?  We could meet.  Our trips to Austin will be day trips, so I'm not sure when I will even be interviewing Remax brokers, but I know it needs to be done at some point.

Karen, Yes, I'm very glad we drove to Houston.  It would have been easier if we went to Houston and then west to Austin instead of driving back to Dallas, but live and learn.

Gary, Thank you, and yes, I felt like a yo-yo.

Donna, well I know you finally have some peace with the decison being made. I love your new floor plan and the house sounds wonderful. Will Alyssa be up on the second floor? Let us know what company you go with or are you staying with RE/MAX?

Posted by Missy Caulk, Savvy Realtor - Ann Arbor Real Estate (Missy Caulk TEAM) about 10 years ago

Donna, I will be taking my son to college for the first time (Tulsa University) and will be passing through onmy way back on Tuesday the 19th and may have some time. I could also call you by way of an introduction. If you get the chance, check our websitr at www.aveone.com and learn more about me but more importantly about our company. It's unlike you have ever known and though not for everyone, you might be interested. Also, aside from that i would love to give you the "relo tour" I give folks moving to our area!

Posted by Russell Lewis, Broker,CLHMS,GRI (Realty Austin, Austin Texas Real Estate) about 10 years ago

Missy, Yes, ALyssa will be on the second floor.  She's there in our current house as well.  That's very typical in this area, to have master down with the other bedrooms up.  I've been assuming I would stay with Re/Max, but I have some broker research to do first.

Russell, Are you one of the owners, or just a Broker Associate?  We can touch base earlier in the week to see how things look on Tuesday.  I know I have a busy Monday that week.

Donna, I am one of the shareholders. We believe that we are the only company in the USA that is completely agent owned and we are not a MLM group. That is not the only "unique" aspect of our company because, like ReMax we are made up of agents who would be considered top producers at most other companies. Yes, I am a broker associate and many of the members her also are brokers. Maybe we can speak by phone sometime and I can give you more information and give you an idea if it would be something you would like to explore.

Thanks,

Russell

Hi Donna!  Not that I am trying to be a matchmaker or anything (my grandmother would be so proud if I were, though)... but if you went to work with Jason's company, the two of you would be a Texas AR Blogging Powerhouse Machine!!!

Donna, great move.

My husband is from Austin and lately he has been hinting at wanting to transfer there and continue to work with the state agency that he's currently with.  My mother-in-law would be especially happy since she would eventually have a reason to RETIRE again and move back home.  I was just concerned about the housing cost, but we will see.

I love Austin though, it used to be such a quiet and laid back town.  But the last time I was there (four years ago) things were changing pretty fast.

Posted by MeLisa Minter, Realtor, Taylor Lake Village Real Estate Broker (RE/MAX Space Center) about 10 years ago

Steve, True, but he's a little too far north for me.  I work from home and even with my current office only 4 miles away, I feel it's an inconvenience to turn in paperwork.  I need something closer.

MeLisa, We were there in '04 contemplating a move at that time, and we said no.  Four years ago would have been a much easier move than now.  Move when you can as the prices just keep going up!
