The Annual Plano Balloon Festival is almost here! This is always a fun time. I never go to the actual festival, but I live a couple of miles from where the balloons take off, so I can see all the action from my back patio or upstairs windows. It's always a beautiful site.
As always, Re/Max is one of the major corporate sponsors. Could you ask for anything less when Re/Max's logo is a hotair balloon?
Festivities kick off next weekend September 19 at 4pm and at 5pm, the Re/Max parachute team will hold their exhibition and at 6pm, Re/Max will present the main Balloon Launch. Festivities go through September 21 at 7pm.
The location, besides my back patio, is at Plano's Oak Point Park. The closest intersection is Shiloh/SpringCreek and Parker Rd. There will be some parking near the park, but DART will also be providing shuttles as traffic can be a pain.

Anyone under 36 inches is FREE, but there is a charge for everyone else. $5 for regular one time admission. $20 for the entire weekend as a 5 time admission. Yes, they charge you each time you come and go. Their website has more details on the prices and discounts available, and the entire schedule of events.
There will be fireworks, music, food, and so much more. Make it an adventure and stay the entire weekend. You can even ride in one of the balloons during the festival if you would like. You must be over the age of 10 and in good health, which I think is subjective. The ride costs $250 a person, but the balloon operator can decline you upon his or her own discretion. Make nice-nice!
Enjoy your weekend!

Donna,
The balloon was a great part of my RE/MAX days.........
Sorry my golf post did not reward you with points....I have no idea why. l\
Dan, Not a problem, it's not always about the points. And yes, it is neat to see the Re/Max balloon flying high in your own area and not just in a commercial.
This sounds like a lot of fun. Reno just had the annual Reno Hot Air Balloon Races and Remax was a sponsor for this event. They gave rides away for charity (I am sorry I cannot remember exactly) but I know they were a huge part the event here in Reno.
Donna, I love this event every year and may check it out again later in the month. Thanks for the reminder.
Terrie, Balloon races? That sounds like fun. How fast can a hot air balloon go?
Gary, Honk as you drive down Shiloh.
We've parked outside the "gates" at a spot on Los Rios and Parker, there is a good little bluff there - on occassion the balloons haven't gone off as scheduled due to weather and it frees us from the crowd as well as a little balloon chasing (once). It's always so neat and colorful
Karen, I remember when I was little, mid 80's, they used to put balloons in the air every Friday night. We chased them a few times, and it was fun. I can't remember when they stopped doing that.
Your blogs are always packed with such great stuff Donna Harris with Re/max HiNet in Dallas about to be moving to Austin.
Any buyer or seller would be lucky to have your representation. Your the best!
Thanks, Greg... trying to win back points? LOL
Donna - ;)
This sure seems like a lot of fun. I'm a few over the 36" mark, though.
Mike in Tucson
Mike, we could sneak you in!
Just a reminder this is this weekend, starting this afternoon. I watched lots of trash cans get put out yesterday along with many of the areas roped off so people don't park where ever they feel like it. OakPoint Center closes at 2pm and will reopen on Monday. Get your swimming or your workouts in this morning!
The weather is great this year for it!
Oh, I know! It's after 1pm and it's ONLY 79 degrees!! I might need a sweater!! Supposed to be in the 80's tomorrow. Fabulous weather, if we can keep the rain away.
It looks like we're going to be there this afternoon around 5 in time for the Re/Max Parachute people and then the launch at 6. Not sure how late Alyssa will stay awake, but I hope she can stay awake through the Balloon Glow at 8. This will be her first big event!
Here's an updated post with pictures.
