Back in May, I got my mom an awesome Mother's Day present... I bought her tickets for Menopause the Musical. We saw the show on Saturday. I bought the tickets so far in advance, then we ran the risk of the show being canceled because of the weather, but we didn't get too much of Ike, so the city ran as usual.
I really didn't know what to expect, though I heard it was really really funny. And yes, it was really really funny, but more than that, it was really really embarrassing to see with my mother! Maybe if I was going through "the change" as well, and we were an "older" mother-daughter pair, it wouldn't have been so embarrassing, but alas, it was embarrassing.
Much of it was like being pregnant, so I completely understood those symptoms and laughed and laughed. It was some of the "other" stuff that completely turned me beet red and had me slumping in my seat.
Did I mention the seats were great seats, the very first row off the ground level, dead center? I felt like the actresses were staring at me the entire time... I wanted to run and hide.
Two thumbs up for being hilariously funny, but do NOT go with your Mother if you're under the age of 40!!
It is playing at the Eisemann Center in Richardson TX.
