Austin TX Real Estate - Hill Country Austin Lakeway Homes for Sale: Plano Toys 'R Us Closing with Great Sale

Plano Toys 'R Us Closing with Great Sale

I was out with Alyssa this morning, furniture browsing, as we need a new kitchen table before we put the house on the market.  We went to one store and found a couple of options.  On our way to the second store, I passed a big yellow sign that read "STORE CLOSING", and I did a double-take.  Yes, the Toys 'R Us in Plano off 75 Central Expressway is closing and moving to Allen, just a few miles up the road.

I decided to U-turn back and see what they were giving away.  I was not prepared for any shopping, so I had left all gift cards at home.  I always go into sales like this with my eyes open to look at the actual "regular" prices, and many times, they mark things UP in order to mark them down.

Most things were still fairly expensive for a store closing, so we casually walked around.  I had Alyssa on my hip one thing in my hands... then two things... then three things... a lady asked if she could get me a cart.  I politely turned her down because we were about done... then 4 things... then I got a cart...

There were some good deals, and with Alyssa's birthday fast approaching, I didn't even feel quilty that my giftcards were at home.

Anyway, get to the Toys 'R Us in Plano.  They expect to close their doors by October 10.

Hmmm. Glad I havent stop by. Boomer and I stopped by the Mom's consignment sale in McKinney this morning. We bought some toys since Boomer loves Elmo and Barney these days. Tomorrow will be better. They are having their half-price sale from 9am - 12pm.... You might want to check it out. (Just Between Friends - High Pointe Church, McKinney).

Hi Donna... if Alyssa was with you when you bought her birthday gifts how will she be surprised when she opens them on here birthday! ;)

Loreena, I went to the Divine Consign sale a couple of weeks ago.  They don't charge an admission.  The one that I'm aware of in McKinney charges an admission, and that's just wrong.  Glad you found some good stuff.  Alyssa doesn't have a clue who any of the characters are.  I can't even get her to watch Baby Einstein videos.  She's too busy making drums out of her enfamil containers.

Steve, Like she has that kind of memory??  I had to see if she reacted favorably towards them or pushed them away.  I would hate to buy her something that she didn't like!

Thankfully my kids are past the Toys R Us days however, the toys they seem to like never go on sale..... gas for the car, CDs, video games, cash for food and dates....

We have been hearing the same rumor about ours for about 2 years now, but no signs yet. They did have a major clearance sale a couple weeks ago though.

Karen, THose "toys" get expensive!  Can't all the friends just swap them around so parents don't have to buy duplicates?

Todd, It's not a going out of business sale, they're just opening a new store and don't want to move the merchandise.

Donna, what a fun piece of good luck for Alyssa!  Yeah.  Carts are a good idea!
