Austin TX Real Estate - Hill Country Austin Lakeway Homes for Sale: What is Alyssa Doing These Days?

What is Alyssa Doing These Days?

People are always asking what Alyssa is doing these days.  I try not to blog about her too much so people don't get bored and annoyed with her, but it's been a few weeks, so here's another update.

Alyssa turned 10 months old last week.  She is working on tooth #8.  Yes, that's a lot of teeth for only 10 months old.  I think most babies this age only have about four.  She's working on standing up on her own.  She likes to pretend she's standing on her own, but will then press her tummy against whatever she's in front of to make sure she has balance.  She'll stand for 2-3 seconds at a time, but then just sits down.

She can fit 5 pieces of dog food in her mouth.  Probably more, but I'm getting there faster and faster.  Mike actually built a box to put the dog's food and water in, so we can close it up when she's around.  Sometimes we forget to close it, and she's over there trying to eat as much as possible or just splashing in the water.

She is obsessed with my computer, maybe because I'm always on it, so we got her a computer of her very own.  Her favorite thing to do with it is just open and close it.  Each time you close it, it says "Good bye" in a very sweet voice.

Last I posted, she was anemic.  She'll be retested on Wednesday, and I'm hoping all is well.  These iron drops are expen$ive!  Her favorites are Macaroni 'n Cheese and Orange Juice.  We finally found a sippy cup she likes, after going through about 5-6 different kinds, and she loves just sitting there and drinking like a big girl.

Anyway, here are some pictures of Alyssa and her new computer.

She still prefers my computer... go figure...

Donna, she's so cute! I can't tell you how relieved I am that you're getting to her sooner with regard to the dog food. She's going to be appalled when she recalls that as a teenager LOL!

Colleen, THank you!  And those pieces of dog food are HUGE!  She screams bloody murder when I take them out of her mouth.  You would think she thinks they taste like chocolate or something.  GROSS!  LOL

Thanks for sharing the cute pictures of your daughter.  Enjoy every second because it all goes by so fast.

Donna - You have a beautiful little girl!  Kids and dog food...  Isn't it funny that they like the stuff?  I hope her test results come back fine...  :)

Donna - Alyssa is a real cutie!  My daughters both loved their little "computers", too, but nothing holds the allure of mommy and daddy's computers.  I am going to feature this one in Family Ties.

Rebecca, I know I know!  I can't believe it's been 10 months already!  She's growing up way too fast!!  Thanks!

Debi, Thank you!  Yes, why do they like it??  It smells bad too.

Jason, Thank you, and also thanks for the feature. Here's plays music and flashes.  Hers should be much more alluring... but only when I'm playing with it. I guess it's one of those "I want what you want" phases.

Donna, thanks for the upddate. Wow, ten months old already. I was wondering how Alyssa was doing. She takes after her Mom, no?, with the computer. What a cutie!!

Hmmm... nice choices Donna. Shaking my head.

Gary, Thanks.  And the way she analyses that thing, she's taking after her dad!  I'm just a button pushing person, and she's all about the mechanicals of how it's working and why the lights lite up.

Greg, Why are you shaking your head?  It's a very educational computer.  The mouse says "up" when you move it up, and "down" when you move it down.  When you press a shape, the screen lights up in the shape and says the shape.  It sings songs.  It shows a picture of a bathtub and then it makes running water noise and says it's bath time... and does so much more.  It's very educational and does not need a power cord.

Oh Donna you know we always enjoy an Alyssa update, never too busy for one! She is adorable and she is themed for Halloween! Do you happen to know what she will be going as, this being her very first Halloween? You know we will want pictures then too! I still have my son's first costume; he was a Dalmatian... It is so fun being a mother and being able to take-in all your children's first; they are like milestones.

Greg, Yeah, thanks ;)

Teresa, I bought her a ladybug costume at a consignment sale for $3.  I figure, she'll probably have it on for an hour at school, and then an hour later to show her off and take pictures, I wasn't going to spend an arm and a leg for a costume she can't wear again, and when I saw this, it was really cute, and for only $3, she can wear it for 10 minutes and not much is wasted.  I'll be sure to post pictures!  As for the Halloween shirt, I love the $1 bins at Target!  They had a few Halloween t-shirts for a buck, and she needed some hangin' around the house shirts that don't matter if they get all icky-dirty, so they were priced well. Tonight she's wearing one that says "I love my Mummy" and has a picture of a mummy.  It now has spaghetti stains on it from dinner... here a buck, there a buck... but it's better than ruining a shirt that costs ten bucks.

She is very impressive, computer skills, five pieces of dog food, 8 teeth.....slow down girl! She is adorable! I bet it is hard not to blog about her every move, isn't it?  Do you have a separate blog just for her? I wish I would have kept a blog for my kids. Writing on the computer is so much easier than writing in a baby book! At least it just feels that way to me! Well, have a great evening and have fun and enjoy your baby girl!

She looks adorable. I cant believe that she has 8 teeth....  My Boomer is only working on his 3rd & 4th - which I can feel, but doesnt seem to want to show up. She looks very healthy - if you didnt mention about her anemic condition, no one would ever know.

Great job, mom!

Terrie, Thank you!  She does have her own blog, but I stopped blogging on it at about 4 months.  It was taking too much to keep it up.  I'll probably get back to it, but not sure.  Hubby didn't really like me posting all that stuff.

Loreena, Thanks!  And yes, she's very healthy.  She went from the 12th percentile at her 6 month appt to the 40th percentile at her 9 month appt.  The reason?  She FINALLY stopped spitting up at 6 1/2 months, so she keeps more in.  I had a little balemic on my hands for several months.  Now, she's growing like a weed and eating anything she can get her hands on.

Gary, Thank you, and I am enjoying every second of every day that I can!  I hate putting her in daycare, as that's time I don't get, but the teachers tell me lots of stories.

I didn't catch this when you first posted it, so I'm glad Jason included in in the Family Ties recap.

I honestly can't believe that Alyssa is so big!  I can clearly remember when you told me that you were pregnant, and it doesn't feel like it was all that long ago!

Our little Joshua is 18 months old now, and I'm actually wondering where all of his time has gone, too!  Your little one has a leg up on him for teeth, though.  He didn't get his first tooth until he was almost 15 months old -- right after he stopped nursing, thank goodness!  He has 6 now, but they're coming in pretty fast :)

Thanks for sharing your adorable photos!

Posted by Jim & Maria Hart, Charleston, SC Real Estate (Brand Name Real Estate) almost 10 years ago

Maria, Thanks! I can't believe yours is already 18 months!  He needs to catch up on teeth!  I don't know what she would have done for 15 months without teeth!  I hear after 8, they get their 1 year molars and that those are the worst... Sounds like fun to go through that!

Time sure is going fast, and can't wait to go through it all again, but I'll be waiting a couple of years for that...  Her biggest accomplish this past week is standing on her own with NO HANDS!  She thinks she's hot stuff now as she stands everywhere, except on command... stubborn she is!
