Austin TX Real Estate - Hill Country Austin Lakeway Homes for Sale: Texas Longhorns vs OU Sooners Red River Rivalry at the Cottonbowl

Texas Longhorns vs OU Sooners Red River Rivalry at the Cottonbowl

Are you ready?  Dallas is crowded, and I'm so glad we got back from Austin on Thursday instead of waiting until Friday to come back.  Who wants to be in that traffic?

Texas v OU weekend is here!

Here's an interesting stat, last year, OU broke a two game losing streak in the Rivalry beating Texas.  Also, it seems history shows the winning team is always the one who comes in ranked higher.  We'll have to see if this holds true as OU is ranked #1 with Texas currently ranked #5.

Both teams are undefeated, but someone has to lose this game.  Who do you think it will be?

Here are more stats from the Star Telegram:

"10- Occasions, including this season, that the Texas-OU game has featured a matchup of top-five teams
46- Games in series history decided by seven or fewer points
1- Game in the last decade (last year's) decided by seven or fewer points
103- Games in series, counting this year's matchup
33- Points of Texas' widest margin of victory, most recently in 2005 (45-12)
52- Points of Oklahoma's widest margin of victory, 65-13 in 2003"

All this fun will take place at the Cottonbowl in Fairpark during the State Fair of Texas.  The State Fair of Texas is going on until October 19, but if you're going to the game, you can go early to beat some traffic and stay late to beat even more traffic, and kill two birds with one stone.  Have a funnel cake for me!

Alyssa is rested and ready to cheer!  This is her first Texas OU weekend!

That would be Texas winning by 10 (45 to 35) and winning 3 of the last 4 games!!

Donna, Did both teams forget how to run, a total of 7 yards rushing for both teams in the first half? Great win for Texas...

Donna - I had a strong feeling that Texas would pull it off today, since it's my wife's birthday!

I went to the game yesterday.  It was awesome.  Even though I'm Aggie, I had a great time.  It was my first Texas-OU game and to watch the excitement of the fans was really neat.

Erik, I don't need congratulating as it wasn't me being tackled out there, but yes, the team did great!

Paul, Running, throwing... however you need to get it done...

Jason, Happy bday to your wife.

Linda, Did you grab a funnel cake?  What color did you win?  Did you wear an Aggie shirt?

Hi Donna - My husband and I wore neutral colors.  I had a yellow shirt on and my husband had a gray shirt on.  I really didn't care who won as long as it was a good game and that is what we got.  We were sitting on the OU side so I probably cheered for them more.

No, I didn't get a funnel cake.  I've had plenty of those since my Rotary club makes them for the Balloon Festival but I did get another corny dog and the new Fire & Ice.  Yummy!

It really was a GREAT game this year.  I wish I could have been there in person (a much for the fair food as the game)!

Linda, Yes, it's weird how a crowd around you can influence your attitude.  I bought a funnel cake at the Balloon festival!

Steve, I wouldn't want to go in person... way too many people to push through.  Plus, you can see so much better on tv!

Okay, I'll give this one to you... I lost my bet with my TX friend so Boomer was in orange for church this morning. That's as orange as he would ever get.

We'll be BACK!!!

Loreena, Any pictures of Boomer in Orange?  The new rankings have Texas as #1 and OU as #4.  I'm sure OU would have gone much lower if #3 and 4 didn't lose this weekend, so you lucked out!

That was the best game I've watched since Nebraaska beat Oklahoma 35-31 back in 1971 or 1972. I think that was #1 vs. #2.

I'm dating myself to say I wasn't even alive at that time, but I'm sure it was a fabulous game!

Donna - Even if I do, you know it wont be for public display. LOL.
