I voted today, have you voted yet? My husband and I had a little time to spare this morning, so we decided to go ahead and head up to the Collin County Community College and vote.
It was a little awkward since we don't really talk politics in our house. We're two very strong-headed people and we're both NEVER wrong. It's been brought up a couple of times, but no real opinions were given about the people, though we did talk about the issues since it's the issues that matter the most.
Needless to say, for a split second, I thought we were going to vote for different people, but we didn't.
I had never stepped foot in Quad C (that's what we call it around here since it's a long name). It was fairly clean. The voting space was very small and not private at all. Kids (are they kids or what age are these college people these days?) were sitting around waiting for their next class, and it was loud.
The voting booths weren't even booths. They were computer screens with a 6 inch screen on either side so the person next to you couldn't "cheat". I went to the empty one at the far back while my husband chose the very first booth at the front.
I chose to vote early because I don't see how the rest of the week or weekend could change my mind. I don't think there's anything else that any of the candidates can say that they haven't already said.
It's almost like when I was dating Mike and said, "What else do you need to know about me that you don't already know?" He didn't have an answer, so I told him that either I was leaving or we were getting married. Why drag things out when they don't need to be? We celebrated our third anniversary last week.
Anyway, get out and vote. If you don't know by now, you're not going to know. What are you waiting for? Personally, I was waiting for each party to say "Early April Fool's! Here are our real candidates!!" but it never happened! Oh well, maybe in 4 years we'll get some better choices.

I will vote on the 4th...my mind is already made up, just a traditionalist!
Donna, this is a nice kind of political post to read! Good for you for voting early. So now are you also going to vote often?
I'm thinking we'll see a lot more voters than usual this time around. It has been quite the season- I have a guess on the outcome. I'm sure I'll be wrong on my predictions- though I did predict the George winning electoral/Al the popular of a few years back (my last lucky guess when it comes to politics.)
I voted. We all have mail in ballots here, so I sent mine in a few days ago. No hour long lines, etc. I also agree that this is a nice political post. There have been some very nasty ones on here lately.
Gary, I had only voted once before so I don't have any traditions yet! :)
Patricia, I'm not sure how often I can vote when elections aren't every month, but I'm sure I'll start voting more once I get to my new city and learn just how "liberal" Austin really is. I might just shake things up a bit! LOL!
Chuck, I couldn't even give you a guess. I can tell you what I think the "obvious" outcome should be, but too many people aren't looking at the issues, so who knows.
Matthew, We have mail in also, but I don't trust my mailman or the post office! Things get lost all the time, and I wanted to make sure my vote counted!
Hi Donna, I voted last week. Glad you and your husband got out early, did your thing, and avoided the crowds on Tuesday.
This is the first year my state has allowed early voting. I decided to go ahead and wait until Nov. 4th to cast my ballot.
I wish they did internet voting! How col would that be!!!
Donna, Thanks for the reminder. Great idea to get the word out. My son came home from college and voted a week ago. Fred
Donna,
I voted early as well. Last time, the line was so long it took me over 1 hour to vote. I still voted, but, learned something. The early ballot is the only way to go from here on out!
Rob Becker, Top Rock Realty
Gilbert, Arizona
Gary Woltal, Yeah for voting!
Chad, I thought all states allowed early voting. Interesting that it's new in some states.
Fred, You're welcome, and now you have no excuses!
Rob, Over an hour? That sounds like that voting line in Ohio 4 years ago!
I voted today also. I stood in live with my wife for 3 hours to do so.
Donna - Congratulations on voting. "Vote Early, Vote Often"....Just kidding. We dont have early voting in NJ, but I wish we did. That way I can skip the hooplah of election day :)
Have a great day
Leander
YES! I voted last week and so did my wife. It is a right that too many people take for granted!
I'm heading out tomorrow to do my part. Between you writing my name in on your ballot and me doing the same, I've got at least two votes! I'm counting on my mother for that third vote!
Donna - I voted a couple of weeks ago by absentee ballot. My husband did that for the first time and loved that he could take his time to fill it out, look at his notes, etc.
I'll be voting on the 4th. My daughter sent in her absentee ballot from the UK.
I'm going to try and make it to vote tomorrow... if not, I will be in line with the rest of the voters.
Not me and wont be until the next election. I hate that I dont get to vote but I still have to pay my taxes. I'm not US citizen yet. Working towards it though.
We voted last week at the records building in downtown Dallas. Expected long line we were in and out in less then 5 minutes. More people in line to get license plates then to vote.
Jim, 3 hours? You're kidding!? Was that the only place in town?
Leander, Maybe you can help get early voting to your state. I could have sworn every state had this.
David, Good for you!
Craig, I thought you were voting for me? I wrote in my name knowing I could count on you!
Sharon, My husband brought a "cheat sheet" with him.
Cindy, Don't forget as much can happen between then and now.
Debbie, Get out today. Much less crowded.
Loreena, We'll be looking for your vote next time!
Richard, Same here. I was almost like, this is it? I didn't get a sticker like last time though.
I will vote on the 4th. The lines will be shorter.
Donna,
Eric & talked about what would happen if both candidates were to withdrawal like... right now! what would happen?
Donna - I've known for some time who I was going to vote for, but we don't have early voting in KY. If the turnout predictions are correct, I'll be waiting a long time.
Cheri, With so many people voting early, you might be right.
Greg, If they both withdrawal, Bob Barr would probably be declared the winner then... not sure if that's a good choice either.
Erik, Get there early!
In 2004, 2.4 million people in DFW voted early. As of yesterday, 2.7 million already voted thus far, and there is still today to get through. LOTS of people voting early to not wait.
I have no idea who Bob Barr is. Is he R or D? How could that be fair?
Barr is the Liberal on the ballot.
