Austin TX Real Estate - Hill Country Austin Lakeway Homes for Sale: Relocating- First Hand Experience Part 10

Relocating- First Hand Experience Part 10

I woke up this morning to an email from my builder.  He gave us an update of some unresolved issues like medicine cabinets, electrical outlets, and an arched wall...

He then ended the email with a statement to contact our sales rep because he was a victim of the most recent layoffs on Friday.  What?  This is horrible!

I just "trained" this guy to call with any and all issues and to keep us updated with everything, big and small.

Now, I have to start all over with a new builder... and I'll have to explain all the changes we've made in the past couple of weeks.

Not great news...

Donna, the layoffs are hitting all around. Hopefully your new rep will do an equally good job for you. When we built a house over 13 months we went through THREE people.

Hi Donna... In this market nothing is staying consistent over time.  I keep getting re-assigned to new loss mitigations people on a file becuase they keep either being part of layoffs (you would think that NOBODY would be laying off loss mitigation folks right now, wouldn't you?) or they get fed up (hopefully not with me) and quit.  I think that long term relationships will come to be measured in months or weeks at this rate!

It's never easy to know someone that face layoffs. I appreciate the fact that he told you about it. He could have just left the company and you may not have known. Hopefully, the next one will be equally as responsible.

Unfortunately it's a sign of the times.  Here in Florida, it's going to get much worse before it gets better.  But it will get better.  The sooner the better, I hope.

Donna, building a new house in this market has to be a little un-nerving.  Hopefully, the builder is paring down staff before he finds himself in trouble!  Good luck with it.

Gary, We've only got a couple of more months to go, so we better not get a third!  Don't jinx me!

Steve, That is weird.  I thought the banks were hiring more people to take care of these things.

Loreena, Yes, I appreciate that he told me instead of the builder's rep. He was professional about it.

Gabe, Weird thing is that this area of Austin is still building like crazy!  It's other neighborhoods shutting down and the builders have to go where the work is.

Patricia, The builder has closed out some communities and instead of starting their new ones, they're waiting on those and shuffling the people with senority over to other neighborhoods which means my guy got the short end of the stick.

Hey Donna, Oh no...not good news at all.  It is so hard to get accumulated to someone that you can comfortably work with, only to lose him....ugh!  Best wishes to you!

I'll be glad when you close on this home. I feel stressed for you.

Donna, it seems to be contagious around the country.

Sandy, I know!  It's so frustrating!

Greg, Thanks for carrying that stress for me.  It's very heavy!

Gena, Maybe there's a pill for it?

Donna - I'm sorry to hear this news.  Maybe this new guy will be better than the other guy....  :)

Debi, Maybe.  We haven't heard yet though. Getting nervous they're going to give us someone who has never built the plan again.
